Intel Tiger Lake leaks Shows Major Improvements Over Ice Lake

Intel Ice Lake processors have been out in the market for a while now, but by the leaks about Intel’s Tiger Lake Processor which is to arrive in 2020, we can say that it’s surely gonna be filling the major laptops around you in the coming days.

Intel’s Tiger Lake Processor features a major cache size boost. According to the leak tweeted out by InstLatX4, Intel’s Tiger Lake processors would be featuring the Willow Cove architecture built on the 10nm manufacturing process. 

Tiger Lake-U processor offers a 50% L3 cache jump over its predecessor

Not a lot of details are in the leak, but it says that the Tiger Lake Processor is a quad-core chip with Hyperthreading, that is, four physical cores and four threads of computing muscle with a core clock of 1GHz and a boost clock of 3.4GHz.

The chip features AVX 512 ISA with a 12MB L3 cache. All Predecessors having a quad-core Intel chips features 8MB L3 cache, that is, each core comes with 2MB of L3 cache, this is a big leap over Ice Lake. A 50% bigger L3 cache boosts the L3 cache from 2MB to 3MB. Core i7-1068G7, the top end Ice Lake processor features L3 cache of 8MB, Intel Tiger Lake features 1MB more cache per core than its predecessor, resulting in much faster performance.

Tiger Lake-U processor features 12th generation GPU or XeGPU. From the records, Intel’s 11th generation graphics offered a massive improvement over its predecessor, so we can’t wait to see what the 12th generation GPU has in its stores for us. XeGPU architecture would be Intel’s first in-built graphics architecture that is being used to power the next-generation discrete graphics card lineup, Intel is also adding the latest display technologies.

Intel has bigger plans for the tiger Lake-U Processor

Intel said that they are aiming for a cache redesign in Willow Cove architecture, so it is surely going to be more than just a simple cache boost, Intel has also planned optimization of new transistor-level which is now possible with 10nm manufacturing node.

The Tiger Lake Processor is said to support PCI Express 4.0. Going by the previous leaks, we can say that AMD’s third-generation Ryzen Processor is the only consumer with PCIe 4.0, this is probably gonna change with the launch of Tiger Lake Processor.

The Tiger Lake Processor family is marked officially as “Mobility Refined” with Rocket lake, a 14nm lineup for desktops is scheduled for 2021 after the launch of comet lake in 2020. As all this based on a leak tweet, take this with a grain of salt.
